2010 INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLE COMPETITION
The International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition (ICMEC) has been created to provide young and mature chamber music ensembles from around the world the opportunity to compete with each other and to perform in the best music halls of New England and New York. The competition is open to student, amateur and professional ensembles of all ages and nationalities.

- Piano Duo (1 piano, 4 hands)
- Piano Ensembles (Piano Trio, Piano Quartet, Piano Quintet)
- Ensembles with Winds
- String Ensembles
- Jazz & Folk Ensembles
- Vocal Chamber Groups
- Percussion Chamber Ensembles
Age Groups
- Group I (age 17 and under)
- Group II (age 18 to 25)
- Group III (age 26 and older)
Ensemble's Age Group is determined by the age of its oldest member on March 15, 2010.
Competition Rules and Audition Process
Preliminary Round
Each participating chamber music ensemble is required to submit an application in both electronicand paper form. All ensembles must include a CD or DVD of audition material in the mailing of their paper form application. CD/DVD audition material must consist of a single composition or a movement/movements of a composition not exceeding 15 minutes in length.
The application form and CD/DVD should be postmarked by March 15, 2010. Please mail application materials to:

Second Round
Ensembles which pass the preliminary CD/DVD round will be invited to participate in a second round live audition in Boston, MA on May 27 and May 28, 2010. Participants will compete in their specific age groups and categories. Audition material for this round must consist of a single composition or a movement/movements of a composition not exceeding 15 minutes in length. Audition repertoire does not need to be consistent with CD/DVD material submitted in the preliminary round. A score of audition material should be presented to the audition committee before live audition. Concert dress is required for participating ensembles. The best second round ensembles will receive a 2010 ICMEC Laureate Certificate and will participate in the final 2010 ICMEC competition round in New York City at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall on Monday, May 31, 2010 (1.). Second round ensembles that demonstrate high artistic potential (2.) will receive a 2010 ICMEC Honorable Mention Certificate in the award ceremony at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall on Monday, May 31, 2010.
Final Round
Ensembles passing the second round live auditions will be invited to participate in a final round live audition in New York City at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall on Monday, May 31, 2010. Participating ensembles will be presented in concert format and will compete with each other for the 2010 ICMEC Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal. Audition repertoire for this round must be the same material presented at the second round live auditions in Boston. Concert dress for participating ensembles is formal for this round. Awards & Award Ceremony
2010 ICMEC Gold Medal Winner: The recipient ensemble will receive a cash award of $2,500 and will be invited to perform in concert on the Chamber Music Foundation of New England Concert Series 2010-2011 in Boston, MA.
2010 ICMEC Silver Medal Winner: The recipient ensemble will receive a cash award of $1,000 and will be invited to perform in concert on the Chamber Music Foundation of New England Concert Series 2010-2011 in Boston, MA.
2010 ICMEC Bronze Medal Winner: The recipient ensemble will receive a cash award of $ 500 and will be invited to perform in concert on the Chamber Music Foundation of New England Concert Series 2010-2011 in Boston, MA.
The Award Ceremony will follow the 2010 ICMEC final competition round at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall on Monday, May 31, 2010. Ensembles that showed high artistic potential in the second round of competition will receive a 2010 ICMEC Honorable Mention Certificate. The ICMEC final round participants will receive 2010 ICMEC Laureate Certificates. The 2010 ICMEC gold, silver and bronze medal recipients will receive medals and cash prizes.
