YOUNG MUSICIAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Mission Statement

Nurturing the art of chamber music is to nurture the talents of our young musicians.

About

In 2008 CMFoNE established a scholarship program for exceptionally talented young musicians in severe financial need, who came to study music at Boston area music schools.

Eligible young musicians, ages 15 through 25, are selected from participants of the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition, as well as the Chamber Music Festival of New England.  Both of these venues are provided for young and amateur chamber musicians and chamber ensembles from around the world by CMFoNE. CMFoNE is one of the few places to which talented young musicians can apply for financial assistance. These scholarships are supported by businesses and individuals in Brookline, MA and Greater Boston with an interest in making quality musical training available to motivated and dedicated youth and strengthening our region’s art and cultural scenes.

In addition to financial support, the CMFoNE Young Musician Scholarship Program offers recipients a variety of one-year training and performance opportunities as follows:

  • Private lessons and chamber ensemble coaching by CMFoNE staff musicians
  • Participation in the International Chamber Music Festival & Institute which is the annual summer intensive training and performance program for exceptional young chamber musicians from around the world at the St. Mark’s School in Southborough, MA
  • Performances at the Chamber Music Festival Concert series at First Church in Boston, MA which will be the benefit concerts for the next year’s scholarships
  • Education and community performances at several public places around Brookline, MA and Greater Boston

Eligibility

As all applicants are selected at the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition (ICMEC), they must apply for the competition first. Click here for more information about ICMEC. All applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and financial need, and are required to stay in the Boston area during the scholarship period.

Scholarship Sponsorship Opportunity

CMFoNE is looking for generous sponsors both businesses and individuals for The CMFoNE Young Musician Scholarship Program. Without the support from businesses and individuals, we would not be able to provide this scholarship to nurture our young talent. With your support, we can help exceptional young artists from around the world achieve their goals of becoming mature professional musicians.  Your sponsorship brings exceptional musical talent, passion and dedication to our region thus strengthening our local arts venues and enriching our cultural life.
